We'll have our Texas legislators in house to talk about their experiences this session, where they want Texas to go in the future, and how we can all be involved.

HEADLINERS:
Senfronia Thompson - "Representing the 141st District since 1972. Thompson is the former Dean of Women Legislators in Texas. She has been elected to 23 terms in office. Thompson also advises the United Negro College Fund in Texas.

Rep. Thompson currently chairs the Texas House Public Health Committee. She is a member of the House Committee on Licensing & Administrative Procedures and the House Committee on Redistricting.

She is the last founding member of the Texas Legislative Black Caucus still serving in the Texas Legislature. She is a member of the Texas House Democratic Caucus, the Democratic National Committee, Women in Government, the National Organization of Black Elected Legislative/Women (NOBEL/Women), and the House Farm to Table Caucus."

State Senator Carol Alvarado - "Senator Carol Alvarado is proud to serve Texas Senate District 6 in Harris County and was first elected in a 2018 Special Election.

In 2008, she was elected to the Texas House of Representatives and served 5 terms representing District 145. She served as Chair of the Urban Affairs Committee and Co-Chair of the Select Committee on Transparency in State Agency Operations.

Carol’s primary legislative focus has been on economic development, public health and public education. She has championed legislation aimed at strengthening our state’s workforce, regulating the use of e-cigarettes for children and criminal justice reform.

Carol is an advocate for women’s health and reproductive rights and has passed legislation to assist victims of sexual abuse."

State Representative Gina Calanni - "State Representative Gina Calanni represents Texas House District 132 and serves on the Juvenile Justice & Family Issues Committee and the Homeland Security & Public Safety Committee."
